The South Korean firm will supply its smart home appliances (dishwashers, dryers, ovens, refrigerators, and washers) to residents of Brobyholm and also offer them its smart home energy monitoring system called SmartThings Energy so that they can control all the smart home products using a single app. Each home will try to be energy efficient while using PV (Photovoltaics) energy production & ESS (Energy Storage System).
Samsung has been partnering with ABB, and the SmartThings Energy platform will be integrated with ABB's automation solution called ABB-free@home. As a result, appliances in Brobyholm will be able to connect to a central system that saves energy. The model home can be visited by people interested in the property. In 2025, 500 such homes will be completed. It will be expanded to 2,000 such homes by 2028.
Chan Woo Park, Executive Vice President and Head of the Service Biz Group of the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics, said, “We are excited to present this smart community to the public. Our goal is to create seamless connectivity that helps consumers easily manage their homes and save energy at the same time.“
