TL;DR

  • Samsung Display supplies the Genesis GV90’s 24.6-inch sliding dashboard screen and 13.2-inch rear-seat displays.
  • Both displays are OLED, with the main panel at 3,840 x 1,440 resolution and the rear screens at 1,920 x 1,080.
  • The dashboard screen uses a tandem OLED structure, covers 100% of DCI-P3, and expands from 23.6 to 24.6 inches when parked.

A few days ago, Hyundai’s luxury sub-brand Genesis launched its flagship SUV, the GV90, which comes with several head-turning features. One of them is a massive 24.6-inch display on the dashboard that can slide up and down depending on the use case. The SUV also features 13.2-inch displays on the back of the front seats. As it turns out, these display panels are supplied by none other than Samsung Display.

Samsung Display has revealed that it is supplying Genesis with display panels for the GV90, specifically the 24.6-inch dashboard display and the 13.2-inch rear-seat entertainment displays. The South Korean tech giant says both are OLED panels. While the 24.6-inch display has a resolution of 3,840 x 1,440 pixels, the rear-seat entertainment displays have a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

The 24.6-inch display also uses a tandem OLED structure and offers 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. As mentioned earlier, the display can slide up and down depending on the use case. For example, while driving, it remains in a retracted state, measuring 23.6 inches. When the vehicle is parked, it can be expanded to its full 24.6-inch size for watching media.

Samsung Display’s Head of Mobile Display Business, Joohyung Lee, said, “Samsung Display’s OLED featured in the GV90 symbolizes how premium display technology and luxury mobility can come together to create a new experience. Going forward, we will continue to build on the strengths of both companies to create new value for luxury mobility.”
