Your Samsung Chromebook keyboard is getting ready for Android games

It is no secret that there are a ton of games available on the Google Play Store that you can enjoy on your Galaxy smartphone or tablet. This also applies to the best Chromebooks from Samsung with a touch screen. However, if your Chromebook lacks a touchscreen, you can't play most of those games. Thankfully, that is going to change soon.

Starting with Chrome OS 105, Google is introducing an early test where it is getting Chromebook keyboards ready to replicate touchscreen input on Android games. This means that you will soon be able to enjoy a bunch of touchscreen-supported Android games on your Samsung Chromebooks using the keyboard.

Google is introducing an alpha test where a key pressed on the physical keyboard mimics the touch control in the game. As noted by AndroidPolice, this feature closely reminds us of the Android emulator BlueStack's implementation on Windows.

Google is providing first-party support for “eight joystick-controlled games, eleven single-button titles, six multi-button control games, and five games that are playable via swipe controls.”

Supported games will continue to swell if testing goes according to plan

Interestingly, all games are a part of the number game 2048, and Google has included the original on the list. Other popular titles include Hill Climb Racing, Geometry Dash Lite, and Archero. All you need to do is hook up a keyboard and a mouse to your Chromebook and define your key bindings for touch screen inputs.

You can also change these bindings and assign actions to different keys as well, using the white square available on the right of the screen. Google has noted that this feature does not mean that developers can ditch the requirement for keyboards in their games.

Because the purpose of this new feature is to improve the gaming experience on Chrome OS. More support from developers will mean a more consistent experience across devices.
