One UI 6 (Android 14) lets you dismiss device charging notification

Android 14 and One UI 6 comprise the latest major operating system upgrade for Galaxy smartphones and tablets and come with many improvements and new features in almost all of the important aspects of the user experience.

Some changes can be found in the notifications shade. Android 14/One UI 6 enhances the look of notifications by making each notification, even those from the same app, show up as separate cards, and when you're playing music, the music app's notification now shows album art for a prettier view. You can also sort notifications by time on Android 14/One UI 6 instead of priority, so you don't have to go scrolling to find notifications that just came in.

And there's another change to notifications that some might like: on One UI 6/Android 14, you can even clear out the charging notification. Earlier, notifications such as those for do not disturb mode and charging couldn't be dismissed. While do not disturb is still a persistent notification when the feature is turned on, the one for charging is not.

According to Google, being able to dismiss non-dismissable notifications is an official new feature in Android 14 that works regardless of whether or not an app notification is set to be persistent by the developer. Clearly, it doesn't work with everything, as the do not disturb notification cannot be removed on Galaxy devices running Android 14, but something is better than nothing, right?

In its early days making Android phones, Samsung was popular for throwing everything but the kitchen sink into its software. It was an approach that gained the company millions of fans, but it wasn't an approach appreciated by everyone.
