According to a new post from Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Qualcomm is developing a new chipset, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, which carries model number SM7550. The tipster has also posted specifications of the upcoming SoC.

The leak claims that the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 has 1x prime core clocked at 2.63GHz,  3x high performance (Cortex-A715) cores clocked at 2.4GHz, 4x power efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz, and Adreno 720 GPU. According to the tipster, the chipset will be made on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication process.

These specs place the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 between the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. The naming convention is quite confusing. Anyone would expect the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 to be more powerful than any chipset from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 lineup. But that’s not the case.

While the tipster hasn’t revealed any information about when the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 will launch,  they claim that the chipset will be used in phones from Honor, Vivo, and Xiaomi. Another tipster, Yogesh Brar, says that the Redmi will launch a phone with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in Q1 2024.
