TL;DR

  • Qatar Central Bank has integrated the Himyan national payment system with Samsung Wallet for Galaxy users in Qatar.
  • Eligible Himyan debit and prepaid cards can be added to Samsung Wallet through the usual card setup and bank verification process.
  • The integration lets users make secure contactless payments without carrying physical cards, expanding Samsung Wallet's usefulness locally.

Samsung Wallet has integrations with the national payment systems of many countries, and it has now added another one to the list.

The Qatar Central Bank has announced the integration of the country's Himyan payment system with Samsung Wallet.

Adding a new card is as easy as ever

The Samsung Wallet integration will enable Galaxy device users in the country to make secure contactless payments using the Himyan national payment system through the app.

The process of adding a Himyan-branded card remains the same as adding a Visa or Mastercard-branded payment card to Samsung Wallet. Users just need to fire up the app on their supported Galaxy device, go to the add new card option, and then complete an easy verification process through the card-issuing bank to get this integration up and running.

Himyan was developed to be the first national payment card brand in Qatar. Users can add their eligible debit and prepaid cards to Samsung Wallet, thereby eliminating the need to carry the physical cards with them. They will then be able to make contactless payments quickly at points of sale and stores across Qatar.

This integration makes Samsung Wallet far more useful for consumers in the country. The expanded compatibility with the country's local banking system will help increase accessibility for local cardholders.
