Samsung released the One UI 8.0 (Android 16) update to its smartphones with foldable displays from 2022, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4, at the beginning of this month. Back then, the brand had made it available in African, Asian, and European countries. Now, the company is rolling it out in the US.
At the moment, Samsung is offering the One UI 8 update to the carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which carry model numbers SM-F721U and SM-F936U. The firmware for the former carries version F721USQU8IYIF, whereas that for the latter carries version F936USQU8IYIF.
To get the update, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. We expect Samsung to release the update to the factory-unlocked variants of the two phones in the next few days. As for the upgrades One UI 8 offers, there are a ton of them. You can check them out in action in our video below or take a look at the list of changes on Verizon’s website.
On a related note, Samsung is on the verge of completing the development of One UI 8.5. It is based on a newer version of Android 16 (QPR2) compared to the version of Android 16 that One UI 8.0 uses. With that, and Samsung’s customisations, it offers a newer user interface as well as features. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 are eligible to get the update.
