Samsung made major changes to its DeX software experience last year. While the brand new user interface was welcomed, some users did miss a few of the legacy features that they had come to love.
At least one of those features is now back with One UI 8.5. The latest update brings back the ability to automatically hide the taskbar.
Samsung has gradually brought back some of the old DeX features ever since the new iteration was introduced. This includes the option for on-screen keyboard location as well as the option to have the sound routed to the speakers in a connected display.
The Auto hide taskbar toggle is now back for DeX, as seen in a recent One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S26 series. Those who missed this feature on DeX can now enable it by heading to the Connected display menu for Samsung DeX in the Settings app. The toggle is now available below the option for adjusting screen timeout settings.
It's nice to see that Samsung has brought back this option, as it does improve the user experience. DeX users no longer have to worry about manually hiding the taskbar every single time they go full-screen. Samsung did introduce an immersive mode with the revamped DeX last year when an app was maximized, but the auto taskbar hide feature was just as effective as it was simple.
