Samsung is now rolling out the One UI 5.1.1 firmware update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in Europe and Asian countries.

In Europe, the update is available for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 (SM-F926B) and carries firmware version F926BXXU5FWH5. For the Galaxy Z Flip 3 (SM-F711B), the update can be identified by firmware version F711BXXU6FWH3.

In addition to the One UI 5.1.1 update, which is a pretty big deal, the latest firmware also introduces the August 2023 security patch.

New multitasking and Flex Mode capabilities

The One UI 5.1.1 update brings similar features and changes to both the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, although some additions are specific to each device.

Both foldable phones now benefit from improved multitasking thanks to:

    • Better app previews on the Recents screen
    • Easily switch from pop-up view to split screen
    • Restore pop-ups snapped to the edge of the screen

However, the Galaxy Z Fold 3, specifically, also benefits from a new feature that lets users hover the S Pen above a floating app icon to see a preview of the app.

Both phones can now use more apps in Flex Mode, and offer a customizable Flex Mode toolbar along with improved Flex Mode media controls.

Likewise, both devices boast an improved Quick Share feature and better Samsung Health with:

    • Improved Sleep coaching
    • More meaningful sleep data
    • Skin temperature measurements during sleep
    • Better workout summaries
    • Improved goals, rewards, and badges

In the Camera and Gallery department, the One UI 5.1.1 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 adds the following:

    • More date and time styles for watermarks
    • Enhanced remaster previews
    • Effects are easier to apply
    • Users can now copy-paste filters and tones from one picture to another

Once again, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 takes advantage of a couple of exclusive features, including an enhanced Flex Mode layout for the camera's Pro modes and a new option to select multiple pictures in Capture View.

Last but not least, even though only the Galaxy Z Fold 3 now lets you charge your Galaxy Buds or Galaxy Watch while you continue using the phone's cover screen, One UI 5.1.1 adds the following features to both phones:

    • Drag and drop with two hands
    • App cache information and management in My Files
    • Enhanced memory management in Device Care
    • Mode change options from the lock screen
    • Samsung Internet layout improvements
