We can't have enough onboard storage on our phones these days. There just never seems to be enough storage for all of the apps, files, photos, videos, and more.
Apple offers customers the option to buy an iPhone 17 Pro Max with 2TB of internal storage. I wish that was an option available on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Both of these flagship phones are available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. Apple takes things a step further and gives customers the option to buy the iPhone 17 Pro Max with 2TB of storage.
Samsung doesn't offer the Galaxy S26 Ultra with more than 1TB of storage. Since there's no microSD card slot, your only options for external expansion are either through a USB-C flash drive or cloud storage. Neither of these options offer the convenience of additional onboard storage.
There's also the price. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is cheaper for the three storage options that the Galaxy S26 Ultra matches. Samsung charges $1,799 for the 1TB model while Apple sells it for $1,599. Pay an extra $200 and you can get the 2TB iPhone for $1,999.
Customers will never not appreciate having more choices when buying something. Perhaps Samsung feels that its customers don't need that much storage for the device it advertises as the perfect companion for power users, with added tools like the S Pen to aid in their productivity and workflow. It feels counterintuitive.
Could Samsung possibly add this option next year for the Galaxy S27 Ultra? There are no rumors to support that so far, and it remains a mystery for now.
