For the first time in years, Samsung changed its chipset strategy for the Galaxy Z series last year. As a result, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 followed in its predecessors' footsteps and continued using a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE became the first Samsung foldables to use Exynos.

This shift left the door wide open for questions about future models. Which chips will the Galaxy Z 8 series use? And what about the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide? Will it be powered by Exynos too?

According to a new rumor via @erenylmaz075 on X, the answer may already exist in official Samsung source code. Well, almost. The X user mentions the chip brand but not the exact kind, and they seem uncertain about the Flip model.

Regarding the latter, it's unclear whether this source claims the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be split between Exynos and Snapdragon markets or if Samsung hasn't yet decided which route to take.

However, it's worth noting that an older report from December 2025 claimed the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature the Exynos 2600 SoC. Considering last year's switch, this rumor seems logical.

As for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, previous rumors pointed to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip for both. The chips will be the “for Galaxy” variety, with improved optimization and higher performance.

Samsung may announce the next-gen foldables by the end of the summer. Pricing details are unknown, and nothing is set in stone until Samsung makes things official.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 may look more or less the same as their predecessors, but the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide would be a brand-new addition to Samsung's foldable device portfolio.
