In December 2025, Samsung started rolling out software updates to the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic that brought One UI 8 Watch (Wear OS 6). It was something that the users of these wearable devices had been waiting for a long time, as it not only brought a new user interface and many new features but was also the last major update for these smartwatches.

Sadly, these software updates also had many bugs, causing critical issues on these wearables, such as sensors not working, faster battery drain, and AOD issues. Earlier this month, Samsung said that it was working on updates that will fix the problems that users are facing. Well, the brand has finally released that update. It not only fixes those issues but also makes them more secure.

The firmware versions of the latest updates for the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic end with JYL6. According to their changelog, they improve “Device behaviour.” According to multiple posts on Reddit (1, 2), these updates make the sensor work again, lower battery drain, and fix issues with AOD. In other words, they solve the issues that the One UI 8 Watch update brought with it.

These updates also bring the January 2026 security patch, which fixes 55 security issues present in the previous version of the OS. Samsung seems to be rolling them out globally. To update your Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic to the latest firmware, open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone and navigate to Watch settings > Watch software update > Download and install.
