Samsung is rolling out a software update to the brand’s first smart ring, the Galaxy Ring. According to the change log, it improves battery stability. However, the company hasn't specified if it offers faster charging, longer battery backup, or improved battery durability. Currently, Samsung seems to be rolling out the update in India.
The latest update is 0.66MB in size and carries firmware version Q50XWWU2AYK3 (via Samsung Community). You can get it by opening the Galaxy Wearable app, and navigating to Ring software update > Download and install. We expect Samsung to release the update in other regions in the next few days.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Ring in July 2024. Considering that the brand follows a yearly refresh cycle for most of its products, it should have launched the successor to the Galaxy Ring in July 2025.
However, that didn’t happen, and according to a recent report, the company may not launch the Galaxy Ring 2 anytime soon. The reason? Low sales and dispute with Oura. You can read about it here.
