At Galaxy Unpacked 2025, Samsung teased its upcoming dual-hinged/tri-fold phone. Leaks and rumours about it claim that the brand will launch it later this year instead of launching it alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 next July. However, there wasn’t much else we knew about it. Well, that’s changing today.
In October 2024, our friends at Galaxy Club revealed that Samsung is developing two devices in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 series with codenames Q7 and Q7M. Well, in a new report, the publication confirms that Q7 is the codename for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, whereas Q7M is the codename for the brand’s upcoming tri-fold phone.
Last year, we also got to know model numbers of two upcoming Fold series devices, SM-F966 and SM-F968. While it is believed that the SM-F966 is the model number for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the SM-F968 is the model number for Samsung’s dual-hinged phone, there’s still no confirmation about it at the moment.
Galaxy Club, however, confirms that at the moment, Samsung is focusing on developing SM-F968 for Korea, and it has the model number SM-F968N. It suggests that if SM-F968 is indeed Q7M or the Galaxy tri-fold, Samsung may launch it only in its home country, South Korea, at least initially. However, that’s just our specification.
Last year, Samsung launched two Galaxy Z Fold series devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in July and the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in October. Considering that, as well as recent leaks and rumours, it is becoming more evident that Samsung will launch its first tri-fold later this year rather than debuting it at the next Galaxy Unpacked.
