In December 2023, Microsoft sold the highest number of Xbox Series X|S in a month since launching the two gaming consoles in November 2020, reports the Executive Director & Video Game Industry Analyst at Circana, Mat Piscatella. Previously, the company had sold the highest number of the two gaming consoles in a month in December 2021. According to Mat, the Xbox Series X made two-thirds of the total units of the two gaming consoles that Microsoft sold last month. However, he hasn’t revealed the sales figures.

Every year, the sales of gaming consoles are the highest in December as many people buy them to gift to their children, family, and friends. That’s one of the main reasons why the Xbox Series X|S were sold in high numbers last month. Along with that, Microsoft launched a lot of games for the devices last year and many retailers were offering heavy discounts on the Xbox Series X|S last month, which would have lured even those people into buying the two gaming consoles who were otherwise on the fence about getting one.

Even though Microsoft managed to create a sales record for the Xbox Series X|S last month, the two gaming consoles stood third in the sales figure chart with Sony PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch taking the first and second position respectively.
