It's been rumored for the longest time that Apple is going to bring OLED displays to the MacBook Pro and other products in its notebook lineup. Which touchscreen displays are nothing new for notebooks, they've been missing from Apple's lineup, and if a new rumor is to be believed, they may be on the cards for 2027.

Rumor has it that Apple is planning to introduce its OLED MacBook Pros in 2027. It's further claimed that these notebooks will have touchscreen displays. The same technology is also expected to be introduced with that year's MacBook Air lineup.

MacBooks may finally go touchscreen in a couple of years

There isn't a whole lot of information to back up this rumor, but the claim is essentially that the 2026-2027 MacBook Pro models will have an OLED touchscreen display. It's claimed that they'll be available in 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch sizes. The OLED MacBook Air will also arrive during the same period with touchscreen displays in 13.6-inch and 15.3-inch sizes.

Samsung will undoubtedly be one of the largest suppliers of OLED touchscreen panels to Apple if this ends up happening. Even if they're not touch-enabled, Samsung remains one of the few suppliers that can provide Apple with the quality and volume it would need. LG Display is likely going to be one of the other suppliers.

Apple is reportedly planning to shift many of its products over to OLED displays. A recent report claimed that the company is developing six new iPad models, with the 2026 iPad mini and iPad Air models featuring OLED panels. The new iPad Pro models are also said to feature OLED displays.
