Flex Mode is missing.

Flex Mode has been a longstanding feature on Samsung's foldable phones since it was introduced with the Galaxy Z Flip back in 2020. When unfolded, you could have the display open at various angles and the UI would adapt accordingly with additional controls to help you make most of the foldable display.
That's still possible on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Flip 8, but Samsung has removed this feature from the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
There's still enough rigidity in the Galaxy Z Fold 8's hinge that the display can open halfway but there are none of the software trappings that made Flex Mode a useful addition.
The removal was also confirmed through the Settings app on the device because it no longer has a Flex Mode menu where you can adjust the various settings related to this feature.
Samsung may have its reasons for removing it, the company hasn't revealed them, but it may have something to do with the form factor of the device. This is also not the first time Samsung has left this feature out on a new foldable form factor. Some of you may recall that the Galaxy Z TriFold did not have Flex Mode as well.
Flex Mode's absence on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 doesn't materially change the device's value proposition, so don't reconsider your decision to buy one. Pre-orders are now live on Samsung.com starting at $1,899 and you'll get the device on August 7, 2026.
