A new software update is now rolling out to the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S21 FE. The update comes with firmware version G990USQSDGXJ4 and brings the October 2024 security patch. It fixes over 40 security vulnerabilities that were discovered in the previous software version.
The update is now available on AT&T, DISH, and US Cellular networks in the USA. Other carriers could release the update in the next few days. The factory-unlocked version of the Galaxy S21 FE hasn't received the same security update yet.
If you have a carrier-locked version of the Galaxy S21 FE and live in the US, you can check for the new update. You can do that by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install.
You can also take the manual firmware flashing route, and for that, you need to download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it on the phone using the Odin tool.
The next big software update for your Galaxy S21 FE will likely come early next year with Android 15 (One UI 7.0). The update will bring a massive redesign, smoother animations and transitions, a new two-page Quick Panel layout, new app icons for stock apps, and a lot more.
If you want to upgrade from your Galaxy S21 FE, the recently released Galaxy S24 FE would be a great choice. It has a bigger and brighter screen, a much faster and more efficient processor, improved cameras, and a bigger battery. It will also get software updates for seven years, which is excellent.
