LG has unveiled a portable touchscreen display called the StanbyME 2 Max, and it looks heavily inspired by Samsung’s The Movingstyle portable TV/monitor hybrid display. It is designed for people who want a single display that can be moved anywhere in their home.

The LG StanbyME 2 Max is a 32-inch portable touchscreen display that can function as a monitor for work or a TV for entertainment. It comes with a stand that has wheels, making it easy to move the display from one room to another. If you want, you can even detach the display from the stand and carry it to your bed.

It features a 32-inch 4K LCD panel with a 60Hz refresh rate, an edge-lit backlight, and touch support. It supports both landscape and portrait orientations for conventional and mobile-optimized content. It also supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG high dynamic range (HDR) formats. The display has side-firing stereo speakers and supports Dolby Atmos and AI Sound Pro.

The StanbyME 2 Max is powered by a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 4.5 hours on a single charge. You can recharge it using the display’s USB Type-C port. It also features Wi-Fi 6, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth 5.3, three HDMI (one with eARC) ports, and two USB Type-A port.

It runs LG’s webOS and is powered by the α8 AI Processor 4K Gen3. Through LG Channels, it offers more than 400 free linear TV channels, making it similar to Samsung TV Plus.

The StanbyME 2 Max is priced at $1,299.99 in the US, making it significantly more expensive than Samsung’s 27-inch The Movingstyle LSM7F touchscreen monitor, which features a QHD resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ Adaptive, is priced at $999 after a $200 discount.

So, if you’re in the US, Samsung’s offerings appear to provide significantly better value for money and a higher refresh rate at the moment. However, the LG display has longer battery life and bigger size.

Samsung’s 32-inch 4K The Movingstyle Essential monitor, which is currently priced at $499, is cheaper but lacks a built-in battery. The 43-inch 4K version of the same monitor (which lacks a battery) costs $699.
