Samsung is working on new devices. That should surprise exactly no one. And if you know Samsung’s release patterns, you already expect new Galaxy tablets and wearables to arrive before the end of 2026.

But now, there’s early confirmation. Several upcoming premium Galaxy devices have been spotted in the GSMA database, indicating that development is already underway.

Those devices include the Galaxy Tab S12 series, the Galaxy Watch 9, and what appears to be the first true successor to Samsung’s Ultra smartwatch, tentatively named the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

At least two new Galaxy Watches confirmed

The same database also revealed model numbers for Samsung’s next smartwatches:

  • SM-L345: Galaxy Watch 9
  • SM-L716: Galaxy Watch Ultra 2

For context, the Galaxy Watch 8 uses model numbers SM-L320, SM-L330, and SM-L335 depending on size and connectivity. Meanwhile, both Galaxy Watch Ultra variants from 2024 and 2025 share the same SM-L705 identifier.

That detail matters. The appearance of a brand-new model number, SM-L716, strongly suggests Samsung is finally preparing a proper sequel to the original Ultra smartwatch from 2024, rather than another lightly refreshed variant.

Is Samsung reshuffling the Tab S series again?

The GSMA database lists two upcoming flagship tablets:

  • SM-X846: Galaxy Tab S12+
  • SM-X946: Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra

These model numbers suggest a shift in strategy, again. Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra last year, but the next generation seems to skip the base model entirely, jumping straight to the Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra.

For reference, the Galaxy Tab S11 carries model numbers SM-X730 and SM-X736, while the Tab S11 Ultra uses SM-X930 and SM-X936, depending on connectivity.

The new numbering scheme lines up neatly with Samsung’s Plus and Ultra tiers, reinforcing the idea that the standard Tab S model may be on the chopping block again.

Samsung already tried the Plus and Ultra strategy when it released the Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra. A year later, it shelved the Plus in favor of the base Tab S11.

Samsung will likely unveil its 2026 smartwatches at this year’s foldable-focused Unpacked event, possibly this summer. The Galaxy Tab S12 series could follow later in 2026 with a separate launch.

Before any of that happens, Samsung still has the Galaxy S26 series to deal with, which is scheduled to launch at the end of the month.
