It is impressive how thin and light the Galaxy S25 Edge is, but it has taken a hit in terms of battery. While it might last a day on a single charge, it is nowhere close to the battery life of the Galaxy S25+. However, it is still significantly better than the rumored iPhone 17 Air battery capacity.
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to rival the Galaxy S25 Edge in terms of thinness and weight. It is rumored to be just 5.5mm thin, making it 0.3mm thinner than the slimmest Galaxy phone. But, according to a report from yeux1122, the iPhone 17 Air features a 2,800mAh battery to power its 6.6-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED screen.
That is 1,100mAh or around 28% smaller than the battery inside the Galaxy S25 Edge. Some reports claim that Apple's internal tests show that the iPhone 17 Air's battery will last a day for just 60-70% of the users. In comparison, that figure is 80-90% for the rest of the iPhones in Apple's lineup. Apple is rumored to bring some AI-powered optimization techniques with iOS 19 to make the most of that 2,800mAh battery.
The iPhone 17 Air is also said to weigh around 145g, which is 18g lighter than the Galaxy S25 Edge. It is also rumored to feature a single 48MP camera (1/1.56-inch) sensor on the back, which is physically around the same size as the Galaxy S25 Edge's 200MP primary camera.
There won't be any telephoto or ultrawide camera, as per reports, but it might offer 2x optical-quality zoom from its rear camera, just like the Galaxy S25 Edge. The iPhone 17 Air is also rumored to have a 12MP front-facing camera.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 Air in the second half of this year. It might also lack a physical SIM card slot and stereo speakers due to its slim form factor. It is rumored to have a sub-$1,000 price tag.
It remains to be seen how consumers receive the ultra-thin iPhone. But it might sell more than the Galaxy S25 Edge, given the aspirational value of iPhones.
