Samsung revealed the contents of its February 2021 security patch today. The latest security maintenance release has already been rolling out for a few days now. Samsung has also updated the list of devices to reflect which models will receive monthly and quarterly patches and which ones won't receive an update anymore.

The company provides three years of security updates for its devices. This includes high-end devices as well. However, an update on its security bulletin page seems to suggest that the Galaxy Fold 5G may no longer receive security updates.

No more security updates for the Galaxy Fold 5G?

The 5G variant of Samsung's first foldable smartphone was only available in South Korea and a few markets in Europe. It wasn't made available as widely as the LTE variant. Be that as it may, Samsung was expected to provide three years of security updates for the device.

However, the Galaxy Fold 5G is no longer listed among the devices that are eligible for a security patch. It has been removed from the list alongside some older devices. They include the Galaxy A5 2017, Galaxy A3 2017, Galaxy A7 2017 and the Galaxy J3 Pop. It's understandable why they have been removed, but the Galaxy Fold 5G's removal doesn't make sense.

There's only one explanation here. This device has been mistakenly removed from the list. That's because the LTE variant of the original Galaxy Fold is still listed as eligible for monthly security updates. Not to mention the fact that both variants of the foldable started receiving the One UI 3.0 Android 11 update just last month.

It's unlikely that Samsung will drop security updates for the Galaxy Fold 5G so soon after updating it to Android 11. This error on the page will likely be corrected in due course.

Update: As expected, Samsung has updated the page to fix the error. The Galaxy Fold 5G is now listed among the devices that are eligible for monthly security updates.
