Although Samsung faces declining smartphone sales globally and in Western Europe, one of its mid-range smartphones released earlier this year performed admirably. The smartphone in question? The Galaxy A56.
According to market data pertaining to the Western European smartphone segment, Samsung's Galaxy A56 was a big hit during its first seven weeks of availability. It's become the definition of a hero phone. The Galaxy A56 outsold its predecessor in a declining environment.
Counterpoint Research says Galaxy A56 sales were up 12% compared to the previous generation, all the while Samsung was facing a 2% decline in overall smartphone sales in Western Europe.
Although the entire segment dipped, Samsung's Galaxy A56 not only managed to post great sales figures but also massively outperformed its predecessor. In contrast, last year, the Galaxy A55 underperformed by 22% compared to the A54, all the while Samsung's overall smartphone sales in the region were up 8%.
In other words, even though Samsung's entire smartphone business declined roughly 2% in Western Europe over the past quarter, the Galaxy A56 outsold its predecessor and became a hit in the region in seven weeks.
Market watchers believe that AI-related features have helped the Galaxy A56, as well as the A36 and A26, gain traction. However, analysts also point out that other phone brands are catching up and becoming a threat as they arguably offer more complete AI experiences for similar prices.
In our experience, we believe there is much more to the Galaxy A56 than AI. The phone performs surprisingly well, and battery life is stunning. Build quality is also very high for the price point. You should check out our full review and watch the video below if you want to learn more about what makes the A56 a better phone than its predecessors and a great mid-range choice in general.
In Western Europe, the Galaxy A56 went on sale in March for €479. However, you can now often find it cheaper. In Germany, Samsung sells the Galaxy A56 for €319 after a €160 discount. In the Netherlands, the Galaxy A56 is available through Samsung's e-shop for €342.
