According to a new report from 9To5Google, the Magic Compose feature for Google Messages, which was up until now available only in the US, has started reaching users in France and the UK.
At I/O 2023, Google announced Magic Compose for Google Messages, a feature that “crafts stylized, suggested responses with the context of your messages” using generative AI. According to the company, Magic Compose helps you “start or reply to a conversation or to rewrite a drafted message in different styles.”
How to use Magic Compose in Google Messages?
Once this feature becomes available on your device, you can access it in a chat by pressing the icon that represents a pencil and a sparkle. Once you do that, Magic Compose will send the last twenty messages in the conversation to Google to generate a relevant and contextual response for you to send in the chat.
According to Google, “Messages with attachments, voice messages, and images aren’t sent to Google servers, but image captions and voice transcriptions may be sent.” The company also says that it “doesn’t store messages or use them to train machine learning models.” So, privacy doesn’t seem to be an issue.
