Samsung introduced two new AI-powered features—Now Brief and Now Nudge—for select Galaxy phones over the past year. Now, it appears Google may have found them useful, as the company is reportedly working on a similar set of AI-powered features. They are called Daily Brief and Proactive Assistance.

Gemini could get Now Brief and Now Nudge-like features

Now Brief displays relevant information such as calendar events, travel tickets, weather, and workout metrics on a single screen. It also recommends music playlists from Spotify and YouTube Music and reminds you about tasks from the Reminders app. And all this information is displayed based on the time of the day.

Recently, Android Authority reported that Google was working on a similar feature called Your Day, but its name has now reportedly been changed to Daily Brief. It surfaces relevant information from your emails and organizes it into “Active Goals” and “Top of Mind” sections.

Active Goals could include habits you are trying to build or topics you have been searching for through Google Search. Top of Mind could include important information pulled from Gmail and your Google Search history. These features can reportedly be accessed through the Gemini app’s left sidebar.

Proactive Assistance is also said to be part of the Gemini app, and users may be able to turn it on or off based on their preference. It can connect with compatible apps and analyze what’s on your screen to surface relevant information at the right time.

For example, it could pull information from Contacts, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Keep, and Messages. All the data is reportedly processed entirely on device for better privacy.

This feature sounds a lot like Samsung's Now Nudge, which debuted with the Galaxy S26 series earlier this year.

It is possible Google will announce these features at Google I/O 2026 next month. Those features will likely launch on Galaxy phones, too. During the same event, the company could showcase Android 17, Wear OS 7, Android-based ChromeOS, newer versions of Android Auto and Android Automotive, and new Gemini features.
