Google is upgrading Google Chrome for Android with the option to place the address bar at the bottom of the screen.

On Android, Google Chrome is the most popular web browser. However, it isn’t without flaws, and one of its weak points is that it has the address bar at the top, making it harder to access on devices with large screens. On the other hand, all of its rivals, including Samsung Internet, offer an option to place the address bar at the bottom, which is easier to access.
With many people requesting a bottom-mounted address bar, Google started testing it as an option in October 2024. Now, after almost six months, the brand is rolling it out to the stable channel. Google is releasing it in phases to Chrome 135. That means various devices will get it at various times. However, you have to perform this step to experience it.
Once Google offers the option to place the address bar at the bottom in Chrome 135 on your device, the app will show you a notification below the top-mounted address bar saying “You can touch and hold to move the address bar to the bottom.” You just have to perform that step to experience the bottom-mounted address bar in the web browser.
Sadly, Google hasn’t redesigned the overflow menu to go with the bottom-mounted address bar and offer better one-handed usage. It still has back, bookmark, download, information, and refresh icons at the top, which are hard to reach on devices with large screens in one-handed usage. Hopefully, the brand will update it in the near future.
