Google Calendar streamlines task creation for effortless planning

Google Calendar is getting a new feature that will make it easier for you to keep track of events and ongoing tasks, as well as make planning effortless. Currently, creating a task on Google Calendar is a bit challenging, and to fix this, Google may soon add a quick switcher to help you swiftly switch between making a calendar event or a task in the Google Calendar app.

As per eagle-eyed @AssembleDebug, Google is working on this new quick switcher, which was spotted in the Google Calendar app v2023.48.0 for Android. The new Google Calendar quick switch simply adds a new button on the creation page, which you can tap on to switch between the two types, i.e., create a calendar event or a task. By default, it is set to Calendar event, but you can switch it to task with just a single tap.

With the new feature, Google Calendar will save title and date info that is lost in the current method

As of now, for normal users, switching over to tasks requires going back out and then tapping the dedicated ‘task' button appearing after tapping on the ‘+' floating button. Google isn't changing the UI for that, and if you have built muscle memory, you won't notice any change. However, one important thing is that Google Calendar will save the title and date information when you switch back and forth between a calendar event and a task with the arrival of the new feature.

In the current method, all the before-mentioned features are lost, which can be a bit frustrating. For now, there is no information on when this Google Calendar quick switcher feature will roll out to all users.
