Galaxy Z8 series does not support dual physical SIM cards

Samsung's latest foldable phones are more refined and aesthetically polished than any previous generation. On top of that, Samsung also introduced a new form factor that has already won over plenty of fans, myself included.

But if you're tempted to become an early Galaxy Z8 adopter and need two physical SIM cards, there's something you should know before you hit that pre-order button: none of the new models support dual physical SIMs.

Samsung's new foldable lineup consists of three models: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold 8, the latter being the newest addition to the series.

One thing they all have in common is the lack of dual physical SIM support. Each phone has a single nano-SIM slot, so if you need a second phone number, your only option is to add it as an eSIM.

Yes and no. With the exception of a few older Flip variants sold in select Asian markets, the Galaxy Z Flip series has never offered dual physical SIM support.

The Galaxy Z Fold lineup has a different history. The original Galaxy Fold from 2019 and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 each had a single physical SIM slot. Every model after that, up to and including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, featured a dual nano-SIM tray. The new Fold 8 Ultra goes back to the original Galaxy Fold and Fold 2 approach.

As for the new Galaxy Z Fold 8, it's an entirely new addition to Samsung's foldable lineup. As expected, it follows the same approach as the Flip 8 and Fold 8 Ultra, meaning it also lacks dual physical SIM support.

The global Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra all share the same SIM configuration:

Each phone has one nano-SIM slot and supports up to two eSIM profiles.

However, you can't use both eSIMs and the nano-SIM at once. Only two lines can be active at the same time. So if you want two lines on your Galaxy Z Flip 8 or Fold 8/8Ultra, you can use either one nano-SIM and one eSIM or two eSIMs at once.
