Samsung is expected to unveil its first tri-folding phone before the end of this year. Ahead of the official announcement, some of its UI design and multitasking features of the upcoming device have leaked, giving us an idea about the Galaxy Z TriFold's software.
The first tri-folding phone from Samsung could be named the Galaxy Z TriFold, and it reportedly has a 10.1-inch internal foldable display. On that expansive display, you can use multiple apps side by side. While Galaxy Z Fold series phones let you run three apps side by side, two of those are spread across just 25% of the screen, making it difficult to use them.
The Galaxy Z TriFold, though, will reportedly allow you to use three regular phone screen-sized app windows side by side. According to a report, Samsung will call this feature ‘Split Trio,' and it could debut with One UI 8.5.

Another Galaxy Z TriFold feature that has appeared ahead of the phone's announcement is the way the cover screen is mirrored on the internal foldable screen. The contents of three home screens from the device's cover screen will be mirrored to the Galaxy Z TriFold's internal foldable screen, allowing you to view three home screens on its big display, improving your productivity.

Users who don't like to mirror the home screen setups of their cover screen on their internal screen will likely have the option to disable that feature, similar to existing Galaxy Z series phones.
The Galaxy Z TriFold will likely run Android 16 and One UI 8.x when it is launched later this year or early next year. It will likely come with a promise of seven major Android OS updates, similar to other high-end Galaxy phones.
It is rumored to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a triple-camera setup similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, a thin body, and a bigger battery compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
