Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is official: Bigger battery, reduced crease, and more

Samsung has just announced its first-ever Ultra-branded foldable phone. At Unpacked 2026 in London, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra as a new chapter in the series, one that it says was “built for maximum productivity.”

First, let's address the elephant in the room. Is the Ultra name justified in this case? Or has Samsung's marketing overstepped the boundaries of what defines Ultra?

It's a tough one because it's a matter of perspective. Samsung now uses “Ultra” to define not just its camera-centric flagship phones but also laptops and even vacuum cleaners.

For the most part, for Samsung, Ultra means the best. And from that perspective, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra technically fits the bill as the company's best foldable for 2026.

A new Flex Titanium display structure that helps minimize creases.

A new dual-path battery charging architecture that distributes power more efficiently across the dual-battery system.

An upgraded graphite cooling structure that improves thermal conductivity and dissipates heat more effectively.

HDR support in the 200MP camera mode.

Improved Nightography.

A new APV codec for 8K video recording.

Of course, Samsung also refined its Galaxy AI suite for One UI 9 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Galaxy AI now works across more apps and services. Now Brief and Now Nudge are also better, and the phone has access to more advanced Gemini-powered automation.
