Bigger batteries and a more power-efficient chip are expected on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series.

It was recently revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra use higher-capacity batteries than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. That makes longer battery life a reasonable expectation. But by how much? Samsung appears to have an answer through standardized testing.
European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) ratings for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra have surfaced just one week before the announcement of the phones. EPREL is the European Union's publicly accessible database that offers product energy labels and related performance information. It includes battery-life figures of devices based on the European Union's standardized test patterns.
According to these EPREL ratings, the Galaxy Z Fold 8's 4,800mAh battery reportedly lasts 49 hours and 10 minutes, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra's 5,000mAh battery lasts 51 hours.
In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7's 4,400mAh battery lasts 40 hours and 28 minutes according to the same EPREL rating. This means the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lasts 20% longer than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra lasts around 25% longer on a single charge.
While EPREL battery tests may not reflect real-world usage for typical users, they at least provide a standardized way to compare phone battery life.
Samsung appears to have made a noticeable improvement with its upcoming book-style foldable phones compared to last year's model. The improvement could come from larger batteries, the more power-efficient Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip, and possibly better software optimization.
