Samsung's latest flagship non-foldable smartphone lineup, the Galaxy S26 series, introduced several new features over the Galaxy S25 lineup and the brand's older devices.
One of them is Horizontal Lock, a video stabilization feature that keeps the horizon level even when you rotate the phone while recording. The brand is now bringing this feature to more devices.
Samsung has launched its newest flagship smartphones with foldable displays, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8. These devices offer several upgrades over their predecessors.
One of them is Super Steady with Horizontal Lock from the Galaxy S26 series. While recording videos, it keeps the horizon level even if you rotate the device.
To use Horizontal Lock on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, or Galaxy Z Flip 8, open the Camera app, switch to Video mode, tap the running person icon to enable Super Steady, and then select Super Steady with horizontal lock.
Now, once you start recording, the phone keeps the horizon level even if you rotate the device a full 360 degrees, creating footage that resembles the stabilization you'd get from a gimbal. This can be especially useful when capturing action-packed scenes or sports.
