All of the information that has emerged about the Galaxy Z Fold 7 so far suggests that it's going to be drastically slimmer than its predecessor. Samsung has paid special attention to ensuring that its latest foldable phone is noticeably slimmer.

However, it won't have a claim to the title of the “world's slimmest” foldable phone, as that's already been grabbed by the Honor Magic V5.

Samsung won't be able to claim this title

A week before Samsung is due to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at its Unpacked event in New York City, Honor today announced the Magic V5. The company claims that it's the world's thinnest foldable phone, measuring 8.8mm folded and just 4.1mm when unfolded.

These dimensions don't account for the rather bulbous camera housing at the back, but such figures rarely do, so whatever the Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes in at will also be limited to the device's frame only and not include the camera setup.

While there's no official confirmation as yet what the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is going to measure, rumors so far have suggested that it's going to be as slim as the Magic V5, meaning that Samsung's most expensive foldable phone has already been outshined a week before its arrival.

Honor has made the phone available in China today, which is of little concern to Samsung as it has a meaningless market share in that country, but Honor will make the device available in other markets across the globe. As always, the US market largely remains Samsung's playground.
