Users have complained about foldable phones not lasting as long as traditional smartphones or having similar camera hardware. However, a new report from South Korea claims that Samsung is banking on a marked improvement in battery life and camera quality of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 compared to its predecessor. The battery life and camera quality of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be in line with the Galaxy S23 series.
The report claims that it is hard to boost camera resolution and sensor size due to space limitations in foldable phones. However, Samsung has reportedly improved camera quality with the help of software optimizations. Going by previous reports, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 uses a bigger 12MP primary camera sensor. So, the phone may offer a significantly improved camera, thanks to a bigger sensor and improved software. The phone is expected to feature a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP selfie camera, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB/256GB storage, 5G, eSIM, GPS, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, USB 3.2 Type-C port, 25W fast charging, and wireless charging.
Leaked specifications showcase that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a 3,700mAh battery, which is close to the battery capacity of the base Galaxy S23. It also has a 3.4-inch cover screen that allows users to use the camera, check notifications, and use stock apps and widgets. So, despite a slightly smaller battery capacity, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 can offer Galaxy S23-like battery life as users use the small cover display for many tasks.
