Galaxy Z Flip 4 grabs the January 2025 security update

It has been a week filled with security updates for flagship Galaxy smartphones, and the avalanche isn't stopping just yet. Following several Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has started getting the January 2025 security update.

The update is available for both carrier-locked and unlocked units in the USA. You can identify it by a build number with GXLF as the last four characters. The rollout doesn't appear to have expanded to other market as of this writing, but that should change soon.

As always, you will receive a notification when the update is available for your phone. You can also manually download it by tapping the Download and install button in the phone's Settings » Software update menu. Galaxy Z Flip 4 firmware are available for download from the SamMobile firmware database as well.

What can you expect from this update? Nothing but security fixes (of which there are many, as detailed here). But don't be disappointed. A big update with new features is on its way to your Galaxy Z Flip 4. Samsung is working on Android 15 and One UI 7 for multiple Galaxy smartphones; it will be the third major OS upgrade for the Flip 4 and could arrive sometime in March.
