Galaxy Z Flip 3, Flip 4, and Flip 5 get August 2024 security update

Samsung has released the August 2024 security update for several Galaxy Z Flip phones. The Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are getting this update in the USA, where a similar update went live for the Fold 3, Fold 4, and Fold 5 earlier today.

The August patch fixes 50 security vulnerabilities of varying severity. It also includes a fix for a critical vulnerability that came to light back in June and affects a lot of Android devices, including those made by Samsung.

The latest update makes no non-security changes to the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Flip 4, and Flip 5. One UI 6.1.1, with its excellent new Galaxy AI features and other improvements, will likely come with the next update.

You can identify the August update for the Flip 3, Flip 4, and Flip 5 with the build number F711USQS8IXG6, F721USQS6FXGJ, and F731U1UES4CXG6. At the time of writing, the Flip 3 and Flip 4 are receiving the update on AT&T's network. The Flip 5 is getting it on unlocked units.

You can download the latest software update from your phone's Settings » Software update menu. Firmware for Galaxy smartphones can also be downloaded from the SamMobile archives. You can use these firmware files to upgrade your device via a wired connection to a Windows PC.
