Details about the new smartwatches are slim at this point in time. However, the Galaxy Watch 5 battery has appeared online in a regulatory filing. It has a bigger capacity than the battery found in the 40mm Galaxy Watch 4.
This is the battery that will be found inside the SM-R900 model of the Galaxy Watch 5. It will likely be the replacement of the existing 40mm Galaxy Watch 4. The battery for the new smartwatch carries part number EB-BR900ABY.
It has a rated capacity of 276mAh. That's slightly bigger than the 247mAh battery found inside the 40mm Galaxy Watch 4. This is a good indication that we may see bigger batteries across the entire upcoming Galaxy Watch lineup.
An earlier report suggested that the Galaxy Watch 5 series will enter mass production in the third quarter of this year. We should expect it to be unveiled around the months of August or September.
Samsung may further improve the health and fitness features of its smartwatches. It was reported recently that the Galaxy Watch 5 may come with a temperature sensor. This will enable users to get a reading of their body temperature on demand with the smartwatch also alerting them if they have signs of a fever.
We can be sure that more details about the new smartwatches will emerge in the coming weeks and months. It will be interesting to see what Samsung brings to the table with the Galaxy Watch 5.
