The Galaxy S25 Ultra is Samsung's newest flagship smartphone. It is a terrific device, but it still wasn't Samsung's best-selling smartphone earlier this year. A research firm revealed that the South Korean firm's best-selling phone worldwide was a $200 phone that was launched late last year.
Market research firm Counterpoint Research has published its latest report on the world's best-selling smartphones in the first quarter of this year. The Galaxy A16 5G was Samsung's best-selling phone worldwide, but it sat fifth on the table. The world's best-selling smartphone in Q1 2025 was the iPhone 16. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, and the iPhone 15 ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively.
The Galaxy A06 was the world's sixth best-selling smartphone during the quarter. It was followed by the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which ranked seventh. Xiaomi's Redmi 14C 4G ranked eighth, while the Galaxy A55 ranked ninth. The tenth place was captured by the iPhone 16 Plus.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra ranked fifth in Q1 2024, which was unusual as lower-priced Galaxy phones ranked better than Galaxy S series phones in the earlier years. Moreover, there were five Samsung phones in the list of world's top ten best-selling phones. This year, only four Galaxy phones made the cut. So, it appears that Samsung did worse this year compared to the last year.
However, lower Galaxy S25 Ultra sales is reportedly due to a smaller sales window compared to last year. This year's flagship phone still managed to contribute one-fourth (25%) of Samsung's total smartphone sales in its active sales month.
