The Galaxy S25 Edge looked like a real threat to the S Plus initially.

Samsung's ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge might not be making waves globally. However, analysts say that Samsung's titanium-enclosed slim phone outsold the last four Plus models in Western Europe during the first week of availability.
The first week on the market looked relatively good for the Galaxy S25 Edge, at least in Western Europe. Initial sales were higher for the Edge than the Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S25+. The ultra-thin phone outshined every Plus model since the S21+ — at least regarding first-week sales.
This data suggests that phone buyers in Western Europe were eager to try something new and innovative upon seeing Samsung's new innovative device. Analysts at Counterpoint Research highlight a few factors that may have contributed to the Galaxy S25 Edge's initial success in this market region, such as:
Although initial Galaxy S25 Edge sales were surprisingly high in Western Europe for the first week, market watchers also point out that the phone costs more than the S25+, which will likely lead to sales tailing off quickly.
Nevertheless, this data suggests that ultra-thin stylish phones could have a place on the market, and with Apple rumored to release its own slim iPhone Air later this year, the segment could grow in popularity by the end of the year.
Unfortunately, the source hasn't revealed any data regarding Galaxy S25 Edge sales after the first week. Likewise, this report concerns only Western Europe, so there is no guarantee that the S25 Edge outperformed the last S Plus models globally in a similar fashion.
On the contrary, previous reports from Korea said that Samsung had to cut back on the number of S25 Edge units it planned to produce this summer because of unexpectedly low global sales. The same reports also said that Samsung is no longer certain that the Edge could or should replace the Plus next year.
All in all, Samsung tried something different by releasing the Galaxy S25 Edge, and the phone has garnered mixed opinion. It's not all bad. Although some people don't believe that trading battery life and a camera for a slimmer profile is worth it, others seem to love the S25 Edge's thin premium design.
