Samsung is determined to bring ray tracing-based graphical improvements to the mobile market. The company's been working alongside mobile game developers to make ray tracing a viable option for the past year or longer. And as the company unveiled the Galaxy S24 series at Unpacked 2024, it also confirmed a few upcoming and existing games that officially support ray tracing on the next-gen flagship phones.

The Galaxy S24 series is powered by Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips. More specifically, the Galaxy S24 Ultra gets the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 solution everywhere, while the Galaxy S24 and S24+ can have either the Snapdragon or the Exynos 2400 SoC, depending on the market.

Regardless of which chip you'll end up with, you will be able to play ray traced games on your Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung revealed four games that officially support ray tracing, two of which are upcoming.

Samsung's top pick games with ray tracing for Galaxy S24

Although a handful of mobile games available on the Play Store already use ray tracing technology to varying degrees of success, Samsung has focused on four titles in its presentation.

Presumably, these games running on the Galaxy S24 series will push ray tracing on mobile to a higher level than ever. The four games mentioned by Samsung are:

  • Racing Master – An upcoming racing game that boasts over 100 licensed vehicles, real-time multiplayer races, tuning, and “an unparalleled visual experience.” Racing Master is not yet available, but people can pre-register for its release.
  • Night Crows – Unavailable outside Korea, Night Crows is listed on the Google Play Store elsewhere alongside a pre-register option. It's an MMORPG set in a fantasy 13th-century European continent, boasting an open market, flying, and huge battles. The game uses Unreal Engine 5.
  • Arena Breakout – This is a next-gen tactical FPS by Level Infinite. The game claims “a first-of-its-kind” extraction mechanic wherein players can keep loot upon extraction, and realistic “high risk, high reward” gunplay. Season 2 is live and brings a new map set in Guoyapos Bay City and new weapons.
  • Diablo Immortal – This is the only game Samsung mentioned that is already out. Diablo Immortal needs no introduction, but it is a top-down hack & slash RPG with tons of loot and demons to slay.

We expect many more mobile games to use the Galaxy S24 series' ray tracing and top-tier graphical capabilities. So far, ray tracing on mobile hasn't been that impressive. Nevertheless, some developers use the technology to a greater extent than others, and newer/upcoming games may offer more impressive visuals thanks to the latest chips.
