Can a security patch improve a phone's battery life?
Reading time: 2 minutes
While One UI 7.0 introduced a smoother UI and a long list of new and improved features, some Galaxy users complained that it destroyed their phone's battery life. But Samsung seems to have started solving that issue. Some Galaxy S24 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 users have lately noticed improved battery life on their phones.
Some Galaxy S24 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 users have claimed that the battery life of their phones has improved after installing the June 2025 security update. While a Galaxy Z Fold 5 user said that the battery life on their phone improved by “400%,” Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ users said that battery life has improved but not by such a significant margin.
Samsung detailed the June 2025 security update earlier this month. The update started arriving on the Galaxy S24 two weeks ago for the international model and one week ago for the US models. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 received the new update last week in both international and USA markets.
Security updates generally focus on fixing security loopholes and other bugs. But sometimes, such updates also improve the overall smoothness and power efficiency of a device. However, based on some users' claims, it is hard to judge if the battery life has really improved for most users.
