The new software update for the 4G variants of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with firmware version G98xFXXSJHXA1. For the 5G variants of these three smartphones, Samsung is releasing an update that bears firmware version G98xBXXSJHXA1. Both (for 4G and 5G global models) these updates are available in Europe, and they can expand to other regions in the coming weeks. The new update for the factory-unlocked models of Galaxy S20 series phones comes with firmware version G98xU1UES8HXA1 in the US, and that update is available on all carrier networks in the country.
If you have a Galaxy S20 series phone and live in Europe or the USA, you can check for the new update now. You can do that by opening the Settings app, navigating to Software update, and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file that is appropriate for your phone's model number from our firmware database. Then, you can use that file to flash the firmware on your device manually.
Samsung mentioned in its monthly security bulletin earlier this month that the February 2024 security patch fixes 72 security vulnerabilities discovered in the previous software version. The update doesn't bring any new features or performance improvements, so the download size of the update is relatively small. Galaxy S20 series phones will not get the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update.
If you are thinking of upgrading from your Galaxy S20 series phone, you should seriously consider the Galaxy S24, and you can watch its full review in our video below. Click the button below the video to buy the Galaxy S24.
