Galaxy phone’s Color Palette could soon reflect on Android Auto

Samsung introduced Android 12’s Material You-based Color Palette feature to Galaxy phones with the One UI 4.0 update. While it brought color accents based on your phone’s wallpaper to the device’s overall UI and apps, those color accents are missing from Android Auto even now, but that could change soon.

A report from 9To5Google claims that the latest beta version of Android Auto (version 14.9) has brought complete support for the Material You engine, bringing color accents from the phone’s wallpaper to the your car’s infotainment system. And that feature could soon come to Galaxy smartphones.

Based on the wallpaper you choose for the Android Auto screen, the system picks the primary color and applies it in various areas, including the background tint and toggles in the Settings app.

This isn’t the first time Material You was released for Android Auto. It appeared last year, too, but it didn’t work reliably, as the color accents didn’t appear everywhere in Android Auto. This time, though, the feature seems to be working without any issues, and some people have started seeing it already on their phones in the Android Auto mode.

We haven’t tested it on our Galaxy phones, yet, but it wouldn’t be too hard to guess that sooner or later, the Color Palette feature will start working on Galaxy smartphones in the Android Auto mode when they are connected to a compatible car’s infotainment system.
