It's been known for a while now that Samsung has new wireless earbuds in the pipeline. The company is due to launch the updated variants next year, and we'll likely see them being unveiled alongside the Galaxy S26 series.
Not much has been revealed about these earbuds at this point in time. A new report today brings us the internal codenames for these devices, and an interesting detail worth noticing is that their codenames are inspired by history's musical grandeur.
Androd Authority has found references to the codenames for the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro within the code of an early One UI 8.5 build. Samsung hasn't launched the One UI 8.5 beta program as yet but early builds have been floating around for a few weeks now.
The Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro are referred to as “handel” and “bach” within the code. The names ostensibly refer to George Frideric Handel and Johann Sebastian Bach, two of the most highly regarded composers from that era of musical grandeur.
Picking the names of composers as the codenames for these products makes sense, but it's a bit uncharacteristic if you look at previous variants. The Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro were codenamed “jelly” and “paran” while the Galaxy Buds 2 had “berry” as the codename.
Details about the features in these new earbuds should surface in the coming weeks as we come closer to the launch. Leaks should also bring renders and images of the earbuds, so it's only a matter of time before we get to see what direction Samsung is taking with the new Galaxy Buds devices.
