Samsung is rolling out a new software update for its top-of-the-line Galaxy A-series smartphone from last year, the Galaxy A55. It brings the January 2025 security patch to the device. The latest security update fixes a lot of issues, making the phone more secure against security threats than before. You can read more about this month’s security update here.
Samsung has released the update for the variant of the Galaxy A55 that it sells in Asia, Mexico, Panama, the Middle East, and a few other regions, which has the model number SM-A556E. The update carries firmware version A556EXXS6AYA5.

Check the notification panel for an alert that Samsung might have sent you about the update. If you received it, click on the notification and then on Download & install to get the update. If not, go to Settings » Software update » Download & install. Alternatively, you can also download it from our database and install it manually using Odin on a Windows PC.
The stable version of Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 is here with the Galaxy S25 series. We expect the South Korean tech giant to start rolling it out to eligible devices, which includes the Galaxy A55, in the next few weeks.
