Samsung has started rolling out the stable version of One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy A55. The brand is offering it first in its home market, South Korea, where the phone is known as the Galaxy Quantum 5. The update carries firmware version A556SKSU7DZE5.
We expect Samsung to start releasing it in other countries in the next few days and complete the rollout globally in a month or two. To check the latest update's availability in your region, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
While One UI 8.0 is based on Android 16, One UI 8.5 is based on Android 16 QPR2. Along with the upgrades that the new version of the OS brings, Samsung's customisation for it offers visual changes as well as many additional features, including Apple AirDrop support.
Earlier this month, Samsung unveiled an even newer Android customisation for Galaxy smartphones, One UI 9.0, and opened its beta program for the Galaxy S26 series. It offers a slightly different UI as well as many new features. The Galaxy A55 is eligible to get it.
