Last month, Samsung released the Android 13 update to the Galaxy A53 5G, but the update was limited to European and Asian countries. Today, the South Korean firm has released the Android 13 update to the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy A53 5G in the US.

The stable Android 13 update for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy A53 5G comes with firmware version A536USQU4BVK3 in the US. Right now, the update is available on Comcast’s network, and we expect other carriers to release the update within the next few days. Samsung could soon release the update to the carrier-unlocked version of the Galaxy A53 5G.

If you are a Galaxy A53 5G user in India with a carrier-locked version, you can download the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

What’s new with Galaxy A53 5G’s Android 13 update?

The new update brings One UI 5.0 and the November 2022 security patch to the smartphone. The new software brings a slightly refreshed UI design, featuring the improved Color Palette feature, improved widgets, stacked widgets, and better translucency effects in the notifications area. Samsung has also improved the smoothness of animations and transitions.

Samsung has improved all the stock apps, including Samsung Gallery, Samsung Internet, Samsung Keyboard, and Samsung Messages. The Settings app now has a new Connected Devices section to display all the connected devices and features. The security and privacy features are combined into the same section.

Samsung has added the OCR feature that lets users extract text from images and the live camera feed. The feature is available in the stock Camera, Gallery, and Keyboard apps. Built-in image and video editors have received a lot of new features. The lockscreen now features a lot more customization features through the long-press action.

Other features include new wallpapers, a separate call background for each contact, more options for Bixby and Bixby Routines (now renamed to Modes & Routines), a Smart Suggestions widget, multitouch gestures for opening the side-by-side multitasking mode, and support for Dynamic Icons.
