One of the best and most unique features of Samsung's One UI on Galaxy smartphones is the Edge Panel. It is a panel that you can access by swiping in from the left or right edge of the display, giving you quick access to a variety of content, including apps, contacts, and other shortcuts.
Unfortunately, people using Good Lock's One Hand Operation+ module have recently been unable to use Edge Panel properly. After multiple complaints, the brand has now acknowledged the issue, shared a temporary workaround, and confirmed that it is working on a permanent fix.
The One Hand Operation+ app provides users with more gesture-related features over then ones that One UI already does, including the ability to enable more gestures and assign actions to them.
When the Edge Panel handle is positioned in the same area as a One Hand Operation+ gesture, the Edge Panel gesture is supposed to take priority. However, that isn't happening on the home screen.
When people are swiping in from the left or right edge on the home screen to access the Edge Panel, the gesture is causing the home screen to become unresponsive. Interestingly, the issue does not occur while using apps. Users have also found that turning Edge Panel off and back on restores normal functionality, but only for a few hours before the problem returns.
Samsung has acknowledged the bug. According to the company, One Hand Operation+ is incorrectly recognizing the Edge Panel handle area, which is causing the conflict. As a temporary workaround, the brand recommends opening an app that supports screen rotation, rotating the device between landscape and portrait orientations, and then returning to the home screen.
Samsung says it will permanently fix the issue in the next update to the One Hand Operation+ app.
