We have some great news for foldable phone fans. Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, due later this year, will boast significant camera upgrades, including a higher-resolution main sensor.

Our colleagues at GalaxyClub have discovered that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 camera system will consist of:

  • 200MP primary camera. The same as the one you can find on the Galaxy S25 Ultra right now.
  • 12MP ultra-wide camera.
  • 10MP telephoto sensor.
  • 10MP cover screen selfie shooter.
  • Improved Under Display Camera (UDC).

The source hasn't been able to confirm whether the UDC will retain its 4MP resolution but can confirm that the sensor is improved in some ways.

For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is available right now, uses a 50MP primary camera.

Samsung has been using a 50MP wide camera for the Fold series since the Galaxy Z Fold 4. A 200MP shooter is a significant upgrade, considering the camera spec similarities we've had in recent years.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition was the first to break the 50MP ceiling, but it's not a widespread device. The SE model is available only in Korea (and China under a different name). It debuted last year with a 200MP primary shooter at the back and no Under Display Camera technology.

It is believed that Samsung will release the Galaxy Z Fold 7 this summer, most likely in July. It should be accompanied by the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung is also rumored to be working on a tri-fold phone for a 2025 release.
