After the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro, Samsung has released the One UI 8.0 update to another rugged tablet, and that is the Galaxy Tab Active 5. The tablet was launched early last year with Android 14 onboard and received the Android 15 update earlier this year.
The Android 16-based One UI 8.0 update is now rolling out to the Galaxy Tab Active 5 in European countries. The update comes with firmware version ending CYJ3 and has a download size of over 2GB. It includes the October 2025 security patch. The update could reach other countries and regions in the next few days or weeks.
If you have a Galaxy Tab Active 5 and live in the region mentioned above, you should check for the new update. You can do that by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. After the update is downloaded completely, tap the Install now button. Your device will then restart after a few minutes, and you can then start using One UI 8.0.
The Galaxy Tab Active 5 is a mid-range rugged tablet, and it was released in early 2024. The device was launched with Android 14 (One UI 6.0) onboard and received the Android 15 (One UI 7.0) a few months ago. It will get at least two more Android OS updates.
One UI 8 brings several changes and improvements. Quick Share now has a fullscreen UI with two separate tabs (Send and Receive), while the Weather app has new visuals. The Calendar, Clock, and Reminder apps get better bulk management features for calendar entries, alarms, and reminders.
